Hi There!
The Oregon Coast Small Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Licensed in the City of Toledo, Oregon, and we are certified by the Oregon Department of Agriculture. Our sole mission is to reduce feral populations and the associated diseases through a steadfast Spay and Neuter policy for all cats that come through our rescue, and assistance with TNR (Trap - Neuter/spay - Release) operations as funding allows. We proudly support our beloved veterinarians at Lincoln City Animal Clinic, who work so hard to help us with fixing kitties and keeping them healthy.
All About Me
Executive Director, Robin Wedertz, was a volunteer trapper for the Central Coast Humane Society, when the Echo Mountain Fires occurred. She was deeply saddened by the loss of property and homes, and knew there would be resources for the humans as the community rallied around the people who needed them. She was concerned by the lack of resources for animals. Cats and dogs were victims of these fires too, and their need for help was desperate.
The Central Coast Humane Society did an amazing job of getting veterinary help for so many injured animals, finding owners and reuniting families. They also engaged in an ongoing and extensive program of feeding, using only volunteers, so that lost and bewildered animals did not starve. The need was in housing. When animals were caught and needed to be held, there was no where for them to go.
Robin took on 50 cats and kittens in all conditions. As she and her family, neighbors and friends cared for the frightened cats, they began to build an enclosure to keep them safe from the coming rain. (The City Compliance Office even came to check on the condition of the animals.) CCHS funded large cages, litter boxes, bowls, all of the small things that one does not usually have on hand in such numbers! CCHS started them on a journey.
At the encouragement of the Central Coast Humane Society, and with their donated equipment to get started, Robin worked with her long-time friend Jed Hanson to create the Oregon Coast Small Animal Rescue, officially, on January 14, 2021.
